Season 3, Ep. 6 - My Mama Lineage - What Generations Before Can Teach Us About Motherhood

What was becoming a mother like for our mothers? For our grandmothers?

How can the wisdom from women who have come before guide us newer mamas in this journey? What can we learn from our mothers, grandmothers, wise women?

In this heartfelt episode, I sit down with my own mom to unravel and discover my female lineage, learning about my mama’s motherhood journey as well as my grandmother’s.

My mother — a mama to 3 children — shares her experience of becoming a mama in her 20s, divorcing in her 30s, and then becoming a mama again in her 40s. She reflects on the delicate balance of maintaining a separate sense of self, of womanhood, while being a devoted mother.

We also explored what “feminine power” means in the context of motherhood, and women’s unique ability to subtly influence family dynamics - without losing ourselves in the process.

I left this chat feeling more connected to my mom and to the long line of mothers before us, as well as inspired by the foundational wisdom from generations before me. If you've ever wondered how to keep your own dreams alive and your partnership strong while raising little ones, this conversation is for you.
